Good vision needs time, attention and experience.

Augenoptik Kleine is an owner-managed specialist optical practice in Bad Kreuznach – in its 3rd generation, with Pia Wolf as your personal contact.

My main areas of work range from contact lens fitting to single-vision glasses, reading and workplace glasses, and individually made progressive lenses.

I always take three-dimensional, spatial vision into account and use specialised, comprehensive measurement methods, including the method developed by Hans-Joachim Haase.

Binocular Vision

Measuring heterophoria carefully

Heterophoria (WF) is one of the main focuses of my daily work.

Heterophoria, also known as latent strabismus, describes a deviation of the visual axes from ideal binocular vision. It occurs in most people but often causes no problems.

If it does cause problems, the effects can vary widely, including:

Possible signs

  • Balance problems
  • Reluctance to read, especially in the evening
  • Poor fine motor skills
  • Dizziness
  • Nausea
  • Burning eyes
  • Watery eyes
  • Increased irritability
  • General clumsiness
  • Poor handwriting
  • Behavioural issues
  • Hyperactivity
  • Problems falling asleep or sleeping through
  • Tension / cervical spine syndrome
  • Dissatisfaction with every pair of glasses

If heterophoria is present, both eyes must align and adjust precisely to one object. Customers often describe this as refocusing. This requires considerable effort from the eyes.

Modern measurement methods allow me to measure heterophoria and provide suitable glasses, corrective lenses or foils. This can also involve close cooperation with therapists, physicians and doctors from different specialist fields.
